The Forensic Occupational Therapist will manage a defined forensic caseload and carry out Occupational Therapy
assessments, treatment, and evaluation of both in‑patients and outpatients. They will work with patients on an
individual and/or group basis to facilitate their rehabilitation, enhance their level of functioning, and work toward
achieving their goals in order to maximize their level of independence.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
Member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
Minimum of one year experience working with patients in a mental health setting
Skills/Abilities:
* Knowledge to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate client‑centred individual and/or group interventions
* Experience and ability to consult and collaborate effectively with members of the inter‑professional team; and to
engage with clients, family members, and community care providers
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and produce reports in a timely
fashion
* Self‑directed and able to work independently
* Exercise good personal time management; punctuality; and demonstrate consistent, reliable attendance
* Knowledge of/and experience in working with a diverse community
Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of:
* Psychiatric/mental health theories and practice
* Psychotherapy
* Assessment and treatment of addictions
* Trauma‑informed care
* Cognitive behavioural therapy
* Dialectical behavioural therapy
* Formal risk management strategies
* Local community resources and services
* The principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation or a similar recovery‑based model of care
* Mental health legislation and its application
* The Ontario Review Board
* Valid driver's license
Salary Range: $37.700 to 53.170
