                                        1 ‑ Full Time – Manager, HR & Organizational Development

                                                                              Human Resources

The Human Resources and Organizational Development (HR and OD) Manager position is a great opportunity to

share a passion for our organization. This position requires a dynamic individual who has a range of responsibilities

within the organization, and is able to work within a people focused, free thinking environment.  This individual will

develop leadership techniques, system approaches, and manage change to create an environment where all

employees within the organization can grow and thrive.

 

This high impact position reports to the Director of Human Resources is accountable for directing the development,

planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of employee recruitment, retention, satisfaction, engagement

and development. They will work in collaboration with leaders to develop, design, and implement various employee

enhancement and leadership programs to help build our people capability and to achieve our development and

succession planning goals. Additionally, they will manage HR and OD functional planning, and will oversee the day to

day management within the department.

 

Changes are inevitable in any organization. This individual will be someone who doesn't accept the status quo, and

has the vision to take an existing process or task and make it better. They will be expected to generate amazing

ideas that will build and nurture a workplace where employees and teams can thrive. This individual will be dynamic

in terms of management and will be innovative in solving problems and in handling tasks and responsibilities. They

will not only lead areas of HR and OD as part of the employee experience, they will use their skills to develop

collaborative and productive relationships with managers, colleagues, and employees.

 

EDUCATION:

*  Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration or

related field.

*  Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader designation or ability to attain.

EXPERIENCE:

*  Minimum 5 years experience in a unionized environment providing coaching, guidance and advice at all levels.

*  Experience in the Broader Public Sector and/or health care environments an asset.

*  Demonstrated leadership in delivering excellent service to others in a diverse environment.

*  Previous management experience is preferred.

SKILLS (in addition to behavioural competencies identified above):

*  Strong working knowledge of Human Resources, Organizational Development and employee engagement

theories, philosophies and methods as well as organizational behaviour, analysis and change skills.

*  Highly developed leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

*  Excellent communication skills with the ability to gain consensus, influence, inspire and/or resolve issues that may

be emotionally charged.

*  Flexibiity in adapting to change and in particpating in consultative decision making processes.

*  Must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software. Knowledge of learning management

systems, web 2.0 tools, and presentation software (PowerPoint, Prezi, etc) and the ability to quickly adopt and apply

use of new technology and tools.

KNOWLEDGE:

*  Knowledge and experience base as a senior HR generalist with a focus on leadership development, organizational

development, compensation and benefits administration, policy development and planning.

*  Experience in the administration of collective agreements is an asset.

*  Must have current knowledge of applicable employment and labour legislation.
