                                                                                    1A Medicine

Reporting to the Manager ‑ Oncology Nursing Services, you will be responsible for providing quality

nursing care to patients including complex patients whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a

multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of

Ontario, the Philosophy and Values of Nursing Services and the policies of the Hospital.

 

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

*  Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

*  Current certification in BCLS

*  Two years recent experience in Medical Nursing.

 

In addition, applicants must have skill and experience in the following elements of nursing practice:

*  Physical Assessment

*  Intravenous Therapy and Intravenous Initiation

*  Competency in and experience with central venous access devices;

*  Aseptic Technique and Body Substance Precautions

*  Practicing as a partner on multidisciplinary teams

*  Patient and family teaching

*  Critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution

*  Advanced pain and symptom management

*  Effective and positive patient/family intervention and teaching skills

*  Demonstrate good time management skills, commitment to personal and professional educational enhancement,

demonstrated positive team relationships.
