                                                                            1 ‑ Part Time (.6) ‑ RN

                                                              Child/Adolescent Mental Health Unit


Under the supervision of the Coordinator, Child/Adolescent Mental Health Services, and the Nurse Practitioner, the

Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing quality‑nursing care to children and adolescents with complex and

unstable mental health disorders.


The successful applicants will possess the following skills, experience and qualifications:

*  Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

*  Current certification in BCLS

*  2‑5 years nursing experience in mental health/psychiatric nursing


In addition, applications must have skill and experience in the following elements of nursing practice:

*  Patient and family teaching

*  Critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution

*  Experience with crisis intervention

*  Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)

*  Ability to establish therapeutic relationships and facilitate a structured and supportive milieu

*  Physical Assessment

*  Aseptic Technique and Body Substance Precautions

*  Other duties as assigned


In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:

*  Paediatric assessment skills

*  Psychiatric assessment skills

*  Knowledge and expertise in promoting growth and development

*  Knowledge of mental health/psychiatric theory and practice

*  Knowledge of crisis intervention skills

*  Knowledge of family systems theory and family assessment skills

*  Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with youth

*  Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide a safe structured and supportive milieu



Salary Range:  $33.230 to 47.570
