                                                                         2 ‑ Full Time ‑ Float ‑ RN



**Float = this position does not have a master rotation.


Reporting to the Manager and Director of Emergency Services, you will be responsible for providing quality nursing

care to patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a

multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the

Philosophy and Values of Nursing Services and the policies of the Hospital.


Applicants must have the following qualifications:

*  Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

*  Current certification in BCLS

*  Recent Emergency nursing experience

*  Certification, or recent continuing education in Emergency Nursing is preferred


In addition, applicants must have skill and experience in the following elements of nursing practice:

*  skilled and experienced in performing complete physical assessments (evidence of completion of a Physical

Assessment Course at the University or College level ‑ WR 400 is required)

*  Intravenous Therapy and Intravenous Initiation

*  Central Venous Line Management

*  Aseptic Techniques and Body Substance Precautions

*  Preference will be given to candidates with SADV training

*  Practicing as a partner on multidisciplinary teams

*  Patient and family teaching

*  Critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution

*  recent certification in Defibrillation and Drug Therapy in Cardiac Arrest

*  able to appropriately triage patients

*  experienced in recognizing basic cardiac arrhythmias

*  experienced in the use of cardiac monitors

*  experienced in the initial nursing care of multiple trauma patients

*  capable of performing all required Added Nursing Skills

*  able to work well under stress and in a constantly changing environment

*  knowledgeable about crisis therapy

*  experience in teaching emergency patients and their families, eg: discharge instructions

*  good awareness of appropriate community resources


In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who have the following current

certifications; TNCC, PALS, ENC(C), and ACLS.



Salary Range:  $33.230 to 47.570
