Reporting to the President and CEO, The Executive Vice President (EVP), Regional Transformation and Integration

is a member of the Senior Leadership Council and is accountable for implementing evidence‑based system‑level

initiatives to advance integrated patient care, back office partnerships and value‑driven care system design across

Northwestern Ontario.  The EVP will lead initiatives that will better integrate services across the Northwest and the

health care system both within and outside of the hospitals ‑ locally, regionally, and, as appropriate, provincially. The

EVP will leverage, support, and collaborate with various urban and rural health system partners and champion an

environment that contributes to an integrated patient experience across the region.

 

The EVP will establish the roadmap for interconnected regional partnerships in alignment with the direction set by the

Regional Services Committee of the Board and the needs of the community. A collaborative systems thinker who

cares deeply about the health care needs of the people of Northwestern Ontario, the VP will engage Health Service

Providers in the region to transform service delivery to improve the patient journey in this challenging geography.   A

visionary leader with a passion for building partnerships and alliances, the VP will bring a track record of successfully

executing on a range of regional level initiatives, working knowledge of the needs of rural and urban stakeholders, 

and inspiring broad system‑level change.  Being exceptional at building relationships, inspiring people, and working

with system partners to facilitate transformation will be essential in this role.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

*  Postgraduate degree in health administration, public administration or related field and/or equivalent experience.

Master's degree or PhD preferred.

 

Experience

*  The successful candidate will have 6‑8 years of progressive system level leadership experience; 

*  A minimum of 3 years at the senior leadership level (EVP, VP, Senior Director or Director) is preferred;

*  Track record of leading/influencing health system integration and building successful partnerships in both urban

and rural settings; and

*  Successful candidate will have experience that ideally spans the regional continuum and has had a sustainable

impact on improving patient care and/or system integration.

*  Ability to travel to all regional sites to gain thorough understanding of local challenges and their impact on patient

care, relationships and Hospital operations;

*  Demonstrated values based leadership skills which emphasize innovation, communication, finance, organizational

*  Visionary and creative problem solver, with ability to execute effectively;

objectives;

*  High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results‑orientation;

*  Willing to challenge the status quo to transform patient care processes and services;

*  Advanced conceptualization skills to identify opportunities or initiatives, and ability to think creatively to allow for

idea integration into project plans;

*  Strong negotiation and facilitation skills to motivate, persuade, and build consensus;

*  Proven ability to build strong coalitions with key leaders to develop a network of local, regional, provincial and

national alliances to identify opportunities and seek input to achieve strategic goals;

*  Ability to drive performance and financial improvements by identifying unique opportunities to meet community

expectations and achieve positive outcomes;

*  Skilled at mentoring, teaching and coaching with a demonstrated commitment to learning, research and knowledge

transfer;

*  Skilled at conflict resolution, at dealing constructively with criticism, and seeking support when needed; and

*  Understanding of group interactions to move a specific agenda forward.

 

Knowledge 

*  Knowledge of health care trends, health system integration and emerging health care innovations;

*  Excellent knowledge and application of Patient Family Centred Care philosophy  and practices;

*  Demonstrated knowledge of  ethical standards, current pertinent legislation including Public Hospitals Act, and

relevant accreditation and other related standards and guidelines;

*  Sound understanding of small facility operations within a rural health care setting as well as urban academic

environments;

*  Knowledge of strategic operations, planning, health care economics, personnel administration, financial and cost

analysis, and trends in the health care sector;

*  Visionary, strategic planner;

*  Self‑awareness and ability to self‑manage; and

*  Openness to personal development and receiving feedback for growth.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

 

Linguistic profile

*  Incumbent must be a persuasive speaker and presenter, with the ability to speak, lecture, write and read in

English; French language skill is considered an asset.

 

Computer skills

*  Incumbent has ability to comfortably use Microsoft Office computer applications.

 

Travel

*  Incumbent must be available to travel regionally, provincially and nationally.
