                                                                                Operating Room

 

                                                          This position has no set schedule, casual call‑ins

 

 

This position will involve working the day, evening, night, weekend shifts.  The shift is not to be interpreted as a

guarantee.

 

 

Reporting to the Manager Perioperative Services, you will be responsible for assisting in the care of patients in the

perioperative area; and are directly responsible for specific duties as they relate to scrubbing for surgical procedures.

As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of

Ontario, the Philosophy and Values of Nursing Services and the policies of the Health Sciences Centre.

 

Applicants should have the following qualifications:

*  Current registration as a RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario

*  Current certification in BCLS

*  Two years recent experience in Perioperative nursing

*  Perioperative Nursing certification

 

In addition, applicants must have skill and experience in the following elements of nursing practice:

*  Knowledge of instruments, procedures, and equipment necessary for multiple specialties

*  Maintaining the sterile field

*  Body Substance Precautions

*  Dexterity in Care and Handling of instruments

*  Safe handling of medications within the sterile field

*  Problem solving and conflict resolution

 

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who

*  Are competent in scrubbing for a variety of surgical procedures

*  Have demonstrated experience in Sterile technique

*  Have skill and experience in safely utilizing electrocautery within the sterile field

*  Effectively work as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team to provide safe and efficient patient care

*  Have excellent communication skills

 

 

Salary Range:  $29.577 to 30.361
