                                                                     1 ‑ Part Time (.5) ‑ Float ‑ RN

                                                                           3E Intensive Care Unit

 

**Float = this position does not have a master rotation.

 

Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care Services, you will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to

patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary

health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy and

Values of Nursing Services and the policies of the Health Sciences Centre.

 

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

*  Current registration as a registered nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)

*  Critical care experience within the past 2‑years

*  Specialty certification in critical care nursing and/or completion of an accredited critical care course

*  Current basic life support (BLS)

 

In addition, applicants must have skill and experience in the following elements of nursing practice:

*  Experience in physical assessment

*  Clinical competency in central venous access devices (CVADs)

*  Clinical competency in intravenous (IV) therapy

*  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral

*  Excellent problem‑solving, decision making, and critical thinking skills

*  Excellent organizational and time management skills

 

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who possess the skill or have the

experience with the following:

*  Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

*  Current Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

*  Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

*  Clinical competency in ECG interpretation

*  Clinical competency in arterial blood pressure monitoring

*  Clinical competency in cardiac arrest response

*  Care of the patient receiving inotropes, vasoactive, and/or antiarrythmic medications

*  Clinical competency in epidural and neuraxial analgesia

 

The successful applicant is required to complete the comprehensive Durham Critical Care Course as part of the

orientation.

 

 

Salary Range:  $33.230 to 47.570
