                                                               2 ‑ Temporary Part Time (.5) ‑ RPN

                                                          Forensic Transitional Housing Program

This position will involve working the day, evening, weekend shifts.  The shift is not to be interpreted as a guarantee.

 

Reporting to the Manager of the Forensic Mental Health Program, the successful applicant will be responsible for

providing quality nursing care to complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of an

inter‑professional health care team, the Transitional Rehabilitation Housing Program (TRHP) Registered Practical

Nurse (RPN) will practice within the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the philosophy of patient and

family centered care, as well as the mission, vision, values and policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences

Centre (TBRHSC). The TRHP RPN will participate as a member of the inter‑professional team, providing therapeutic

services to registered Forensic clients living in the community under varying legal mandates.

 

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

*   current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

*   current certification in BCLS

*   a minimum of 3 years recent forensic mental health nursing in an acute care setting

*   knowledge of current legislation related to the Criminal Code of Canada Part XX.1 ‑ Mental Disorder, the Mental

Health Act, and the Health     Care Consent Act

*   knowledge of the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation or a similar recovery‑based model of care

*   knowledge of relevant community service agencies

 

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:

*   have a certification, or recent continuing education in Mental Health / Psychiatric Nursing

*   have CPMHN(C) designation

*   have recent experience working in a congregate living environment

 

 

Salary Range:  $30.050 to 30.847
