Under the general supervision of the Manager, Labour Relations, the Human Resources Consultant is a key support

to our leadership team and will enable our leaders and staff to effectively develop and enhance employee

performance.  They will provide consultation to and share their knowledge with departmental management on issues

relating to labour relations, human rights and compensation.

 

The Human Resources Consultant builds and nurtures our organization's strong relationships with employees. This

position requires a dynamic individual who is a strategic relationship builder, an active listener, a skilled negotiator

and a calm and curious investigator.  They will enable staff to take personal responsibility for their choices and

conduct. They believe that people are creative, mature and trustworthy when they are treated with respect and this

personal philosophy will guide their approach toward creating a positive employee, and ultimately patient experience.

 

The Human Resources Consultant believes that difficult situations highlight opportunities to learn.  They will use

challenging employee and labour situations as inspiration to examine processes, make recommendations that will

prevent future incidents and facilitate improvements to the organization's processes and perspectives.  The individual

will be proactive and collaborative to prevent and resolve challenges and conflict. They will create a safe space for

others to be open and honest.

 

This individual will be someone who does not accept the status quo, and has the vision to enhance the staff‑centred

nature of existing and future employee and labour relations approaches and processes. They will be expected to

generate their own amazing ideas and approaches that will build and nurture a workplace where employees and

teams can thrive.

 

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

*  Post‑secondary education in Human Resources discipline together with 5 years experience in a human resources

generalist capacity in a multi‑union setting.

*  Must possess superior interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to function as an

effective team member.

*  Must be proficient in keyboarding and the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and corporate e‑mail.

*  Experience using a computerized Human Resources/Payroll System and database reporting an asset.

*  Ability to work in a confidential setting independently and under time constraints

*  Ability to maintain positive working relationships with leadership, co‑workers, clients and other partners.

*  Regular work attendance is imperative and the ability to work flexible hours as required.

*  Excellent organizational, analytical, & communication skills.

*  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

*  Excellent customer service skills.
