4 ‑ Casual ‑ Technician III

Laboratory Central Rec & Accessioning





‑ Must have attained an MLA diploma from a college with an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or hold

a Bachelor of Science Degree with laboratory experience.

‑ Preference will be given to candidates who have recent experience in any of the following areas: Lab central

receiving, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Sample send out, Point of Care, Flow Cytometry.


Duties may include the following:

‑ Microbiology procedures including plating, staining, chemical analysis of urine

‑ Receiving and handling of specimens

‑ Pre analytical processing of specimens such as centrifugation, loading analyzers, making aliquots for referral

testing, preparation of peripheral blood and bone marrow slides

‑ Analyzer maintenance and preparation and loading of Quality control material

‑ Sample Send out

‑ Point of Care

‑ Flow Cytometry sample preparation

‑ Management of the deceased (organization of transporting, paperwork) and morgue

‑ Assist Pathologist with autopsies

‑ Histology procedures including tissue processor maintenance, chemical recycling, retention and disposal of

Pathology tissues, blocks, slides and related duties

‑ Phlebotomy

‑ Any other assigned duties



Salary Range: $26.840 to 30.930
