About the role:

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities & Biomedical Engineering. This role provides leadership and management in the
day‑to‑day operations of Physical Plant & Facility Operations and Maintenance to ensure a safe and comfortable
environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Responsible for the preventative
and corrective maintenance of the physical plant, heliport, mechanical systems, the Cogeneration Plant, and
mechanical equipment (pumps, pipe, valves, motors, actuators, tanks, etc.) throughout hospital facilities.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
*College Diploma in a related discipline from a recognized Canadian accredited College and a minimum of two (2)
years' recent experience working in a leadership/supervisory role in a technical environment.
Or, a Skilled Trades License in a related technical field and a minimum of five (5) years in a supervisory role in a
technical environment.
*Experience supervising and coordinating departmental activities in a unionized environment.
*Ministry of Labour "Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps" training certificate is a requirement
Skills/Abilities:
*Demonstrated leadership abilities with high levels of critical and logical thinking, problem solving, analysis and/or
reasoning in order to monitor, assess and implement program operational needs and to supervise
and evaluate staff performance, promote positive staff relations and ensure fiscal responsibility
*Knowledge of relevant legislation and demonstrated ability to ensure applicable legislation/standards are
maintained.
*Proficient in the interpretation of plans, specifications, technical drawings and service manuals.
*Functional knowledge of facility systems and components including mechanical, electrical, civil structural,
architectural and life‑safety.
*Demonstrated expertise with computer software applications including but not limited to Auto‑Cad, CMMS software,
Material Management Systems, Microsoft Office, MS Project, etc.
*Competency in Ontario Building Regulations, TSSA, CSA, OFC.
*Demonstrated high levels of initiative, resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability
*Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative practice model as a member of an
inter‑professional team
*Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to manage workload and adapt quickly to a fast‑paced,
dynamic work environment
*Demonstrated superior communication skills, oral and written
*Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to interact effectively with staff,
contractors/vendors and other individuals
*Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills to support, coach, mentor and teach staff
*Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co‑workers and patients
Assets:
*Demonstrated training or experience of lean methodology for process improvement.
*Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with a related professional association (e.g. Ontario Association
of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), Project Management Professional (PMP)
* A Certificate or Diploma in a Supervisory, Management, or Business related field.
Salary Range: $47.530 to 59.410
